In 2010-2011, Biscoe Wilson Architects were involved with the Commonwealth Government Building the Education Revolutions scheme (BER) which was an economic stimulus initiative to counter the negative economic influence of the Global Financial Crisis which began in 2008. Biscoe Wilson Architects designed and documented a wide range of economical and functional educational projects including: multi-purpose halls; libraries; classroom blocks; sporting facilities and science laboratories.
Biscoe Wilson Architects are specialists in Education Architecture and are involved in design of buildings and developing briefs, as well as teaching in architectural schools. We see education as an essential requirement for all people and as architects we have an important role in supporting the pedagogy of our educators.
Biscoe Wilson Architects took this opportunity to design a wide range of custom designed solutions that were innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions for the education sector. Our expertise in pedagogy allowed valuable interaction with the Department of Education and school stakeholders. Careful development of the brief, in consultation with the schools, ensured that the buildings delivered met the individual requirement of each school.
Although the design and documentation occurred under very tight time frames Biscoe Wilson Architects have produced a range of innovative solutions that are practical, economical and environmentally sustainable.
The practice has also undertaken a number of alterations and additions to school facilities under the Queensland Government, Smart Schools of Tomorrow programme (SSoT). These projects included improvements and refurbishments to science laboratories, classrooms, libraries, and sport halls.
