Northshore Hamilton
Biscoe Wilson Architects are assisting a long standing client with existing manufacturing facilities to masterplan their site which is located in the ULDA (Urban Land Development Authority) Hamilton Northshore precinct. A mixed-use development with commercial emphasis has been developed including a group of eight storey buildings with active streetscape activities. A mixed use precinct with predominately commercial use is also proposed. Some residential, showroom, retail and food outlets are included to provide urban amenity.
Features of the design include:
- The
site has been designed with five main office buildings. This configuration
allows flexibility in staging and offers a variety of floor plate sizes and
orientation.
- Buildings
will be designed to high commercial and
environmental sustainability standards. Current ESD technologies, both passive
and active will be incorporated.
- ESD
initiatives to be investigated will include: photovoltaics; power co-generation
plant on site; water management and recycling systems; green roofs & walls; sky
gardens; EFC concrete and other low energy embodied construction materials; energy efficient mechanical plant; energy efficient lighting (LED and
fluorescent); building energy management systems; energy efficient façade and
glazing systems.
- Basement
parking will be provided to rates required by the local authority and commuter
friendly facilities for pedestrians and cyclists will be provided.
