An industrial high bay factory and warehouse was designed for Weir Multiflow which is involved in the international manufacture of pumping and draining devices for the mining industry, Weir Minerals. This project's brief was to design a warehouse suitable for the manufacture of industrial equipment and to allow for movement of large transport trucks. The factory incorporated dual five tonne gantry cranes, multiple floor mounted cranes, and a complex mix of tanks and pumps for testing equipment. The project also accommodates administration staff in offices in an adjoining building to replace previously existing offices at other locations. The elevated office incorporated banded fibrous compressed cement facade panelling and sunshading painted in the company livery.
Biscoe Wilson Architects were engaged to design and document the project for Ahrens Group. Ahrens were the D&C contractor for WATPAC.
The ongoing mining boom in Queensland is already putting pressure on the new facility and expansion onto an adjoining site is anticipated.
