The first stage of a Sporting Clubhouse incorporating unisex change-rooms, canteen, stores and first aid room was completed in 2001. This utilitarian building located centrally between sport ovals has a robust quality. The plan and form have a playful and light appearance suitable for a sporting venue. A post-tensioned concrete slab form a temporary roof which will become a floor for a clubhouse in Stage 2. Stonework, reinforced off form concrete, stained hardwood battens, translucent fibreglass sheeting and painted blockwork provide a varied but durable palette of materials. The initiating client was the Past Student Association who worked with the architects and sporting groups to resolve a brief and incorporate the concept into the school master plan.
