A statutory authority with multiple office locations required a flexible fitout that would bring the existing units together in the one building for the first time. The fitout design was for five levels in a new, high-rise building to accommodate 175 staff.
The concept design provided for “centralised workstation spines” that allowed flexibility in positioning of mobile desking systems. Each floor was divided into three distinct zones - Work Zone, Secure Zone and Flexible Use Zone.
A variety of flexible meeting spaces were located adjacent to the workstation spines to allow informal collaboration between work teams. The flexible spine solution allows work teams to expand and contract with individual work group commitments.
A focus on customer service was a design requirement and this was serviced by a “customer hub” on the first level. “Communication pods” at the ends of each work spine provided a communications portal for both staff and customers.
Each floor also contains a “Start up hub” that is a focal point of each floor, containing a kitchen, seating areas and informal meeting place for starting the day.
The concept design was part of a tender submission for an Interior Design and Construct company.
